Born of Scottish parentage in Adelaide, Sth Australia in 1882. His long singing career took him took him to London where he was hailed as one of the greatest bass baritones in the world. Songs such as "On The Road To Mandalay", "The Floral Dance" and "Along The Road To Gundagai" became synonymous with his name. He died in Sydney, Australia on September 26, 1961.
